West Point, Kentucky – Salt River Confluence

Ohio River town at the mouth of the Salt River, about twenty river miles below the Falls of the Ohio. Local and trail-community tradition places the Corps of Discovery’s first camp after leaving Clarksville here on October 26, 1803 – an undocumented stretch of the descent, presented as tradition.
