The Lewis and Clark Trust

Volunteer with a camera

Help capture the places along the Lewis and Clark route in 360.

The Lewis and Clark Trust is lending 360 cameras to volunteers, to capture the places a rider would stop along the Trust’s proposed Lewis and Clark bike route: visitor centers, museums, overlooks, short trails and historic sites. If one is near you, we would like your help.

Volunteers capture small places, on foot. The long trails are ridden by Terrain360’s crew, the Trust’s mapping partner, on their own rig.

A Lewis and Clark Trust project. Not a National Park Service program.

How it works

  1. Sign up. Tell us who you are and which places are near you.
  2. We talk first. We talk with you and check with the place before any kit moves.
  3. Borrow a kit. In person with a short training when our crew is nearby, or by mail with the field guide. A loan runs a few weeks.
  4. Walk the place. Camera on a monopole, Strava on your phone for location. The overlook, the short trail, around the site.
  5. Upload. Raw files off the card, under your own login. Every scene is placed and checked before it is published.

What to know

  • There are six kits. They go out one group at a time, as they become available. Sign up now and we will be in touch when one can reach you.
  • The Trust owns every kit. An adult signs a short loan sheet with the return date, the care of the kit and who answers for loss or damage.
  • It costs you nothing. The loan is free, and a mailed kit comes with a prepaid return label.
