The place today: Ecola Creek, Tillamook Head, Oregon
and his party started, and I remained at this camp to wait the
return of the man who had come with me and who was out
LEWIS AND CLARK EXPEDITION 193
hunting. The 11th was also pleasant, and I proceeded with a
party for the fort; where about 9 o’clock we arrived the next
day. Two hunters had gone out from the fort in the morn-
ing, and killed 7 elk about two miles from it.
