Tent of Many Voices
Lewis Adams, a Salish elder and historian, recounts his people's first meeting with the Lewis and Clark Expedition near Ross Hole in present-day Montana. He discusses the Salish name for the area, explains the misnomer "Flathead," and describes how his people provided food, horses, and provisions to the expedition. Adams also shares the story of Chief Joseph's flight through Salish territory and his people's assistance during that journey.
